Chatyr Kul Lake
Chatyr-Kul Lake is located between the ridges of the At-Bashi and Torugart-Too at the altitude of 3530 m. Being located high in the mountains the lake justifies its name “The Sky Lake". The Chatyr-Kul Lake is the third largest lake in Kyrgyzstan. It occupies an area of 175 sq. km. At the same time it is relatively shallow, up to 20 m deep. Most of the year the lake is ice-bound, due to its location among the glaciers. The lake is a part of Karatal-Zhapyryk National Wildlife Refuge.
